Center for Writing and Learning Journal

The Center for Writing & Learning Journal is a space for the Cooper Union community to share ideas and work related to our disciplinary and educational practices. We all know how difficult it can be to find time to come together to discuss what we’re doing in our classrooms, studios, and labs. Each issue of the journal offers a platform for discussion, with writing, images, and interviews centered on issues we all face.

The first issue considers the importance of process in the context of generative AI, with contributors from across the college thinking through the steps we take as we create something—designs, artwork, scholarship, and more. What do we and our students gain from drafting and editing, sketching and dreaming, designing and experimenting, and what do we lose when we cede parts of those processes to artificial intelligence?
